Kofi Akpaloo Outlines Unconventional Requirement for Daughter’s Suitors

Kofi Akpaloo, founder and presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana, has shared his unconventional criteria for potential suitors of his daughter.

In a recent interview with Accra-based Kingdom FM, Akpaloo revealed his stance on marriage, stating that he would not agree to his daughter’s marriage unless her suitor first impregnates her.

Akpaloo explained that this requirement is intended to test the suitor’s potency and commitment. He believes that if a man is willing to take responsibility for his daughter by becoming a father, it would demonstrate his seriousness and readiness to care for her.

“For my daughter, you need to impregnate her before I consider giving her to you in marriage. I want to gauge your seriousness as a man, and I believe that only through this will I see your commitment,” Akpaloo told GhanaWeb.

He further elaborated, “I would even prefer if she gets pregnant and gives birth before the marriage takes place.”

Akpaloo clarified that this is his personal belief and not a standard he imposes on others. He also shared his views on marriage timing, stating that he believes individuals should be settled with their partner and starting a family by the age of 27.

“At 27, you should be ready to marry and start having children. Marrying early allows for better life planning. If you delay, you might find yourself supporting your last child into retirement, which is not ideal,” Akpaloo noted.

He added, “People often focus on financial stability, but having a partner motivates you to work harder and ensure you can provide for your family.”
