Tai Solarin University of Education Rusticates 25 Students and Suspends 58 for Misconduct
Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has taken serious disciplinary action against 83 students due to various forms of misconduct.
Twenty-five students have been rusticated, while fifty-eight others have been indefinitely suspended for offenses including forgery, threats to life, examination malpractices, and other fraudulent activities.
University Registrar Mr. Dapo Oke announced the decision in a statement released on Tuesday. The actions were recommended by the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and received approval from the university’s Senate during their meeting on July 31, 2024.
The students affected by these measures have been directed to stay away from the campus. The statement warned that failure to comply with this directive could result in legal action and intervention by the university’s security personnel.
The statement detailed the specific cases: Ojo Micheal, a 200-level student in the Computer Science Department, has been rusticated for the 2023/2024 academic session due to CGPA forgery to participate in Student Union Elections.
Additionally, seventeen students faced rustication for examination malpractice, five for threats to life, and one for fraudulent acts. Forty-seven students received indefinite suspensions for various misconducts, and ten others were suspended for impersonation.
The statement concluded with a reminder for all affected students to stay off campus to avoid any issues with university security.
