Raheem Sterling’s camp release statement on the player’s future
As the 2024 summer transfer window approaches its final days, speculation about Raheem Sterling’s future at Chelsea has intensified. The England midfielder was notably absent from the team news announced by Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, ahead of his first competitive match with the Blues.
In response, Sterling’s camp released a statement addressing his situation:
“Raheem Sterling is contracted to Chelsea for the next three years. He returned to England two weeks early to conduct individual training and has had a positive pre-season under the new coach, with whom he has developed a good working relationship. He is committed, as ever, to delivering at the highest level for Chelsea FC and the fans, whom he holds in high regard. Given his inclusion in official club pre-match material this week, our expectation was that Raheem would be involved in this weekend’s fixture in some capacity. As a camp, we have always had positive dialogue with, and assurance from, Chelsea FC regarding Raheem’s future at the club, so we look forward to gaining clarity on the situation. Until then, we will continue to support Raheem’s desire to start the new season positively.”
Since his move from Etihad Stadium to Stamford Bridge, Sterling has struggled to find his form. However, all parties involved are hopeful that his future will be resolved before the transfer window closes.
