BREAKING: Army Hands Over Suspected Killer Of FUNAAB Student To Police

Lagos Police Receive Suspected Killer of Missing Student from Nigerian Army

The Lagos State Police Command has taken custody of 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye, the alleged killer of Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Adeleye was handed over by the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

The transfer was confirmed by the Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday through his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle. He stated, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to @LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade @HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”

Christiana Idowu, who had been declared missing on August 19th, was tragically found murdered after being abducted. She was a student undertaking her internship at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, and was kidnapped while traveling between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State.

Her disappearance sparked a frantic search by her family and law enforcement, leading to the discovery of her body, which caused outrage and grief within the Itaoluwo community where she lived.

According to sources close to the investigation, Christiana’s kidnappers contacted her parents using her WhatsApp account, initially demanding a ransom of N1.5 million. Her distraught parents managed to raise N350,000, which was transferred as instructed, but all communication from the abductors ceased afterward.

Suspicious transactions were noted in Christiana’s account, leading investigators to track the suspect’s financial activities. It was discovered that the suspect, Ayomide Adeleye, had a personal connection with Christiana, evident from their interactions on social media.

Further investigation revealed that the same account number used in the transactions was linked to previous suspicious activities, raising further concerns about Adeleye’s actions. Law enforcement tracked Adeleye’s phone, eventually leading them to his residence in Ikorodu, where he was arrested by personnel from the Nigerian Army’s 174 Battalion.

During the arrest, investigators found evidence linking Adeleye to the crime, including Christiana’s phone and other incriminating items. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing that he had killed and buried Christiana in their house.

The investigation has also brought to light new allegations, with sources claiming that the suspect may have been involved in similar crimes in the past, including the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and biological sister.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover the full extent of Adeleye’s alleged crimes, with Christiana’s tragic death leaving her family and community mourning and demanding justice.
