Yobe State Government Debunks False Claims of N70,000 Minimum Wage Approval
The Yobe State Government has dismissed widespread rumors circulating online about the approval of a new N70,000 minimum wage, labeling the claims as entirely false and misleading.
In an official statement from Damaturu on Thursday, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs for Governor Mai Mala Buni, clarified that the state government has not made any official announcement regarding a new wage. He noted that the matter is still under thorough consideration, and a formal statement will be issued once a decision is finalized.
“The Yobe Government is aware of a deceptive social media post falsely claiming that a new minimum wage has been approved,” Mohammed stated. “We have not released any official communication on this issue and will provide accurate updates as soon as they are available.”

He condemned the unauthorized post as irresponsible, pointing out its lack of credibility and vague sourcing, which diminishes its validity in a professional setting.
Additionally, a national daily that was mistakenly associated with the post has clarified that the logo used was not theirs and that the story was never published on their platform.
Mohammed urged the public to disregard such misleading information, emphasizing the importance of truth in these matters.
