Alleged Terrorism Financing: What NLC President Told Police – Sources

NLC President Joe Ajaero Questioned by Police Over Serious Allegations

Details have emerged about the police interrogation of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Ajaero was questioned over alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

The police had initially invited Ajaero to their headquarters on August 19 for questioning the following day. Vanguard sources reveal that the session was attended by notable human rights activists, including Femi Falana, SAN, Maxwell Opara, and Deji Adeyanju, as well as DCP Sanusi Mohammed, the head of the IRT.

Operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) were also present.

The interrogation, which lasted less than 30 minutes, focused primarily on the operator of the Iva Valley Bookshop located on the second floor of Labour House. Ajaero responded by stating that the operator was merely a tenant and that there was no professional relationship or communication between them.

One source noted that Ajaero was visibly frustrated during the interrogation, feeling that his position as NLC President was being disregarded. The source suggested that the session felt more like a casual conversation and criticized the police for their handling of the matter.
